The OAE Council has issued this advisory in response to forecast El Niño conditions expected between June and September 2026, which will push temperatures higher and increase the risk of regional vegetation fires and transboundary haze.
The OAE Council urges all providers, educators and participants to treat this as a high-risk period lasting through to October 2026. Update your risk management plans, establish clear trigger points for modifying or suspending activities, and ensure your Emergency Action Plan is in place before the season begins.
